The City of Auburn Hills is currently accepting applicants for the position of Senior Accountant. This position, under the general direction of the Finance Director/Treasurer, is responsible for assisting the Finance Director in planning, organizing, and directing all accounting and budgeting activities of the City. Supports the Finance Director in maintaining accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, grant accounting and financial reporting. Assist with cash planning, investment, and debt processes and decisions.

This position requires knowledge of accounting theory, principles, and practices (governmental preferred); knowledge of internal control procedures and management information systems; working knowledge of office automation and computerized financial applications; knowledge of public finance and fiscal planning; working knowledge of payroll and accounts payable functions; knowledge of budgetary, accounting and reporting systems, GAAFR, GAAP and GASB. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in accounting, finance, public finance or closely related field combined with three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in fund accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in governmental accounting and/or CPA designation is desired. Experience in BS&A software is preferred. Salary range is $62,557 - $81,324 DOQ.
